Stéphanie Felton, franchise owner of the La Prairie and Brossard branches, explains to us the reasons which motivated her to become a Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner franchisee.
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and about the “before Daoust” era?
Prior to becoming a Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner franchisee, I had worked for 15 years in the transferable securities sector. I had also been the franchisee owner of various restaurants for almost 5 years. This experience obviously eased my decision to go on the franchise adventure because I was already familiar with the business model.
Why this career change?
I have always loved entrepreneurship and, after selling my restaurants, I went back to transferable securities. Once my entrepreneurial spirit recharged, I rapidly sought a new business opportunity. I immediately clicked with the concept behind Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner.
How did you find out about the franchise opportunity at Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner?
It all happened because of the magic of social media! I read about it from one of my LinkedIn contacts who was explaining more about Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner—that triggered my curiosity. I was able to find the answers to all my questions on their website before contacting the team. It was so easy!
Why choose a drycleaning franchise over one coming from another sector, such as catering, animals or beauty, to name a few?
I did some research on various business sectors before launching myself into the drycleaning one. he Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner was the one that caught my attention the most. Their approach is human and the values they stand for quickly convinced me to invest in them.
What were the 3 determining factors which influenced you to choose one franchise over another?
Where the franchises were located and the area they were covering definitely won me. The commitment to our environment and the innovative technology used were also key factors in my decision.
What do you take the greatest pride in as a Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner franchisee?
The eco process as well as the new supporting technology make me proud, without any doubt. I would also add that I support the willingness to re-invent dry cleaning—whether it is in the way in which services are offered or in the manner in which branches are designed.
What are the greatest challenges?
Developing a customer base and maintaining a satisfying sales volume are my main priorities, as they are for the majority of entrepreneurs. Effective staff management is also an issue any franchise confronts itself with daily.
According to you, what are the greatest advantages of being a franchisee?
I benefit from Daoust Ecoperformant Drycleaner’s brand, which is a significant competitive advantage. Support from the franchise is equally important on a day to day basis, as franchisee success is in its very own best interest.
